ON-LOCATION SITES

The list below is not the end-all be-all of of on-location sites; these are just a few of my favorite ones!
Something as easy as your backyard can be great for an outside family session,
or your old college campus for an engagement shoot!

Almost all of these locations are free to shoot at, however the Como Conservatory and Arboretum
charge a photo permit fee. Since my services are already so reasonably priced, I do ask that you
take care of this fee. It can be paid directly to the location's guest service desk.

Minnehaha Falls Park

Tucked away in the South-East corner of Minneapolis, the Minnehaha Falls Park is a hidden treasure! This is one of my favorite locations due to it's beauty and diverse terrain. There are many areas to photograph in; the top of the falls, the stairs going down to the falls, in front of the falls, and in and around the pergola on the South side of the falls. This is a great location for a spring to late fall portrait session.

Parking is available along Minnehaha Ave (metered) and there is a paid parking lot (75¢ p/hour) on the North side of the falls.

A tip for the ladies, don't wear super high-heels at this location, unless they are really comfortable!

Mills Ruins Park

Mill Ruins Park is located on the west bank of the Mississippi River in downtown Minneapolis and is adjacent to St. Anthony Falls and the Stone Arch Bridge. As the centerpiece of the revitalization of Minneapolis' historic West Side Milling District, Mill Ruins Park is an exploration of the history of Minneapolis. The ruins provides a rustic background for a summer or fall portrait session. Since it is so close to the Stone Arch Bridge, we can continue your session up on the bridge as well!

Stone Arch Bridge

The "walking bridge" provides a link between Father Hennepin Bluffs Park on the east bank, and Mill Ruins Park and West River Parkway on the west bank. The Stone Arch Bridge is just a short walk from the Guthrie and the Mills Ruins Park so it makes a great additional location to the others!

Gold Medal Park

Known for it's landscape architecture, Gold Medal Park consists of a 32-foot-high (9.8 m) mound, reached by a spiral walkway rising out of a green lawn with 300 trees. It is located in between the Guthrie Theater and the Mississippi River and in walking distance from Mills Ruins Park and the Stone Arch Bridge. This park makes a great added 'green' location to the other nearby session locations!
